PureVPN Review 2019

Best VPN to Stream Netflix 2019 Still Working

PureVPN came alive as far back as 2006 by their parent company GZ Systems, to deal with the issue of security against the hacker in the world of internet. Later on, PureVPN was further modified to provide unrestricted browsing experience to citizens of those countries that have significant restrictions and limitations on internet use.

It was recorded that PureVPN has a large collection of VPN servers across the world, offering some of the best geographic diversity we have seen. It could use some brushing-up in the UI department, however, and it has a dud of a dedicated streaming server.

If you are searching for a top-notch VPN service and don’t have a problem with paying for high quality, you don’t have to search any longer or further. This PureVPN review will focus on the strengths and weaknesses of this VPN provider, enabling you to easily make an informed decision. Meanwhile, before we move on with the goodie of PureVPN, we like to give a definition of what VPN is about.

SMOOTH STREAMING: PureVPN excels at getting past VPN bans to unblock streaming sites, then delivering some of the smoothest streams we’ve seen. Start your subscription the right way with an exclusive 64% off the usual price.

What is A VPN?

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network and enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network.

When you use a VPN, your web traffic travels through an encrypted tunnel to the VPN service’s secure server before heading out into the wider internet. This means that any bad guys monitoring your network will not be able to see your web traffic or trace your movements on the internet back to you.

VPNs also protect your privacy, but they can also unlock restricted content. In countries with oppressive internet policies, activists and journalists use VPNs to sidestep government censorship and contact the outside world. VPNs can also be used to access region-locked content, such as BBC and Netflix streaming services, though many such companies are starting to fight back against VPN cheats.

Features of PureVPN

These days, PureVPN offers a brand new, exclusive feature, which you hardly find with other VPN providers. It is the Virtual Router feature, which basically allows you to turn your desktop or laptop computer into a router that you can use to connect up to ten devices.

Purevpn review

The only condition is that it is a Windows-based computer. The company currently does not offer this feature for Mac.

Another great thing about PureVPN is that it has its own apps and proprietary software, with their own code, for most major platforms, meaning Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, as well as Linux, as already stated in this PureVPN review.

This provider offers some amazing compatibility, much bigger than what other providers can offer, including various consoles, Chromecast, Amazon Fire, Smart TV, Roku, among others.

DON’T MISS IT: PureVPN has a great deal of 73 % discount on the 2-year plan. It also backs all of its plans with a 7-day money back guarantee.

PureVPN has a large number of servers located all over the world. The company is based in Hong Kong, but you can find their servers in countries on six continents of the world.

The majority of servers is located in the UK, United States, and Canada. Switching between the servers is also very easy and quick, thanks to the user-friendly interface. More features include:

====> DNS Leak Protection

====> Split Tunneling

====> Port Forwarding

====> No Logs Policy

====> 5 Simultaneous Connection

====> Military-grade encryption

PureVPN Pricing & Payment Methods

Unlike some VPN providers, PureVPN does not offer a free version. This is not a bad idea at all, as free products typically don’t offer the features most people need from a VPN. There is simply one paid plan which differs in price depending on the length of term you sign up for.

Purevpn review

You only need $ 10.95 to try the service for one month. You can get a decent discount for signing up for a year at a rate of $5.41 per month, but the largest or biggest discount is for a two-year plan at the rate of $3.53 per month.

Overall, prices are about average compared to other large providers, although we have seen some better deals on one-year terms. All plans come with a seven-day money-back guarantee, which is nice but is pretty tight considering many providers extend this to 30 or even 45 days.

There is one more option if you are really on the fence and that’s to sign up for a three-day trial for a non-refundable fee of $2.50. PureVPN offers a large selection of payment options, including most major credit cards, PayPal, Alipay, various coin payment platforms, Cashu, and even gift cards.

VPN Protocols

VPN technology has been around for a long time; as a result, there is more than one way to create an encrypted tunnel. PureVPN supports several VPN protocols, including IKEv2, L2TP, PPTP, OpenVPN, and SSTP.

All of these provide 256-bit encryption, except PPTP, which offers only 128-bit encryption. Generally, I recommend that people use OpenVPN where possible, because of its speed, reliability, and open-source status.

I am, however, happy to see that PureVPN offers many choices, from legacy support to the latest standards.

Security and Privacy

It is really easy to be sure of what technologies the company uses for its service because it is all written right there, leaving no room for doubt. The service support PPTP and L2TP/IPSec protocolsSSTP and SSL. They also provide a detailed privacy policy on their website.

They clearly state that under no circumstances will any information about your account usage be released unless required by law-enforcement personnel.

PureVPN does not provide zero logging, though, which means that they log connection time and bandwidth used. They do not keep logs of visited websites, downloaded content or software used.

PureVPN uses AES-256 cypher with RSA-2048 handshake and SHA-1 authentication. The company also uses MD-5 but SHA is stronger cryptographic hashing algorithm. During our chat with customer support, we couldn’t get any information regarding perfect forward secrecy.

PureVPN and Netflix

There are still borders in cyberspace, particularly when it comes to streaming video online. Services offer different content based on customers’ locations. Because you can use a VPN to hide or spoof your location, many streaming services attempt to block VPN traffic.

One thing to note is that if you plan on watching Netflix, PureVPN won’t be much help, as mentioned above. In my testing, I found that Netflix detected that I was using a VPN and blocked streaming. I had the same issue even when I was using PureVPN streaming mode.

Speed and Performance

Regardless of what VPN you use, your speed performance will likely take a hit as a result of the extra security measures. Most of the time this is just a mild annoyance; it’s hardly like going back to the days of modem screeches and dial-up performance.

In the latency tests, PureVPN increased ping time by 200 per cent domestically and 287.2 per cent internationally.

PureVPN used to rule the roost in my speed tests, but that’s no longer the case. I found that it reduced download speeds by 5.1 per cent domestically and 55.7 per cent internationally. Those are respectable results in this all-important test, but not the best.

TorGuard VPN decreased domestic download speeds by only 3.7 per cent, and AnchorFree Hotspot Shield Elite increased international download speeds by 39.9 per cent.

In the upload tests, PureVPN reduced speeds by 6.2 per cent domestically and 97.6 per cent internationally. Again, these are good results, but not the best.

PureVPN for Mac

To use PureVPN on MAC you need to download the client from the PureVPN website, it is not available from the official Mac App Store.

The layout is broadly similar to that of the Windows version, with its five modes that connect you to the best server for your current situation. That said, I find this approach overly complicated.

Purevpn review

It would be handy to also have a button that simply connects you to the nearest server, in addition to this step-by-step approach.

The app, you will see some basic information, such as server ping time, but if you are looking for more data, go to the Menu Bar icon, which reveals your connection status, which protocol you are connected with, your current IP address, the location of the VPN server to which you are connected, and the sent and received data rates.

PureVPN for Android

The PureVPN app for Android is available from the Google Play store for free, but it requires a subscription to use.

The app brings a lot of familiar design elements from the Windows client, but with a few changes. A Material Design button in the lower right corner pulls up a list of servers to which you can connect.

But while the app blends in on Android, it is not a straightforward experience. As with the desktop versions, there’s no obvious way to get online immediately.

PureVPN takes pride in the fact that they provide 24/7 support through a live chat option clearly displayed on the website in the form of a pop-up. When you send an inquiry, you will receive a response in a matter of seconds.

They provide a 365/24/7 email ticket support system as well, which worked great when we contacted them for more information for this PureVPN review.

The support staff is quite pleasant and ready to help but their competence seems to be lacking when it comes to the technical part of the story.

We wanted to know more about PureVPN encryption and we received only half the answer after waiting for some time for the representative to check out the facts with the tech team.
